In current society, a hot topic of discussion is the advantages and disadvantages of the decriminalization and legalization of consensual sex work. Only in the state of Nevada is consensual sex work legal and only in certain counties. However, the state of Maine has just recently passed legislation to decriminalize prostitution and several other states are currently working on bills to do this as well.

Make sure to keep in mind the difference between consensual sex work and sex trafficking, they are completely two different things, and keep in mind the age of consent for juveniles.
Differentiate in your post between decriminalization or legalization, or both if you choose, but make sure also to include whether the policy should be focused on the sex workers themselves or the customers. I highly recommend looking up current legislation on this to give you more of an idea of the different policies.
Federal statutes focus on sex trafficking and also military and naval bases.
