Infographic: The Benefits of Co-Sleeping for Infants and Toddlers

An infographic is a way to communicate information in a quick and easy way with a combination of images or graphics and few words.
Instructions
Select a topic related to infancy or toddlerhood. Some possible topics might be:
breastfeeding
vaccinations
circumcision
gender-neutral parenting
co-sleeping
child care
or any other topic that interests you
Do some background research, and then find at least two journal articles that provide more insight into that topic. You may also reference information from national organizations that focus on child development (American Academy of Pediatrics, UNICEF, etc.). You must use reliable sources and good science. Please note that YouTube videos, Wikipedia, Podcasts, and blogs will not be accepted as reliable sources.
Pick out some interesting information from your research and create an infographic with that information.
Your infographic must include
At least four facts about your topic in your own words. Please do not use any direct quotes.
A minimum of two images (pictures, charts, and graphs all count as images). Please make your graphics or charts easy to read.
Please note that using another infographic as a graphic or chart will not be accepted.
See the example below.
If the issue is a source of debate, you can present both sides on your infographic (for example, the pros and cons of circumcision or breastfeeding), or you can focus on one side.
Try to make it attractive looking.
Include your references in APA or MLA format either at the bottom of the visual or on a separate page.
If you need a refresher on paraphrasing or references, please watch this video to learn how to paraphrase and this video to learn about how to format APA references.
Formatting
You must use your own words – no copying/pasting or quotations are allowed.
Need help remembering how to paraphrase, use quotations, provide in-text citations or references? Please refer back to this page to rewatch the videos.
Don’t feel overwhelmed by creating an infographic. You can think of it as making a simplified “poster” about the topic. You may design the poster in any medium you desire, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, or one of the following programs.
Canva is really easy to use and convenient because it has tons of free shapes and designs for you to use.
Venngage is a fabulous tool if you want to include a chart or graph in your infographic.
Visme is a free infographic tool.
Easel.ly has some great pre-designed Infographic options to work with.
Please do not pay for anything. If there is a paywall, let me know and you can submit a screen shot or photo of your creation.

“Revolutionizing the User Experience: Improving Papa John’s App for a Seamless Pizza Ordering Process”

A project to design a more convenient user experience by analyzing existing application services and finding and improving inconvenient points. Find out the problems of interfaces on the application service. Set the target group, derive three keywords for service design suitable for it.
For the papa John’s app:
The Project #1 Pitchbook must followed this over and must
include all items this way
1. Cover (Name of app / Your name) – 1 page
2. Subject or Topics of App – 1page
3. Dask research (Why do you need to improve this App?) Find problems,
User’s review, Find features – numeric data can be included – 3-4 page
4. Screenshots of existing App design with problem solving idea. -Add
pages as much as you can
5. Keywords of improvements (must with explanations of each keywords)
6. Key finding
7. Insight (As is ———> to be) – 1 page
8. Final UX goal – 1 page
Do not use any template from any programs
Design your own pitch book on canva with the dimensions of 17 inch x 11 inch
1. Do not use big fonts (Topic: 25pt – 35pt is enough, Main paragraph: 15pt – 25pt is enough)
2. Do not use Decorative fonts everywhere. (Use decorative fonts only for Topic. Or Keywords.)
3. Use general fonts(I.e., Helvetica, Avenir, Baskerville, Garamonds) on your paragraph.
4. Do not use pixelization, broken pixel images on your pitch book.
5. Do not use too many color at one time on your slides. (Pick 2-3 color palette related on your concept)

Title: “Designing for Social Responsibility: A Speculative Dream Project for the Future” 1. Contextualizing the Issue The issue I am interested in addressing through design is the marginalization and exclusion of individuals with disabilities in society. According

Over the course of the semester we have considered design in relation to issues of culture, class, gender and sexuality, ethics and sustainability along with a range of design practices and approaches that have explored these issues. In a scholarly manner (eg. referring to at least 8 academic sources – journal articles, book chapters etc) speculate on a ‘dream’ design project for a future you to undertake that addresses an issue you are interested in.
Your research essay (2000 words) needs to address the following:
1. Contextualise an issue:
Identify a social/cultural problem or issue that has interest for you related to culture, class, gender, sexuality, ethics, and social responsibility as it relates to discourses of design. Drawing on sources relevant to design history and theory contextualise and discuss the problem or issue you would like to address.
Example issues:
the gendering of social spaces
the marginal position of a particular group in society
awareness around cultural misappropriation
health and wellbeing
social responsibility for the environment
2. Compare and contrast the approach of at least two other designers in relation to the issue under investigation. Use visual analysis of their work to support your argument – why is their approach to the issue successful/not successful. (Be sure to include the images you refer to).
3. Propose a project that future you would like to undertake to address the issue – think big! Be speculative. Provide a justification as to why you think your approach is appropriate to the issue and will provide a positive outcome, and how would you might measure your success (Include a render of this to communicate your ideas).
4. List of references-

Title: Designing Solutions for Daily Life Problems Prototype Description: My prototype is a mobile application that connects individuals with local volunteer opportunities. The app would allow users to search for volunteer opportunities based on their interests, availability, and location. It would also have a feature for organizations to post volunteer opportunities

just do all steps down on the file i sent , thank you
You will be looking for problems that you or people you know experience in daily life and coming up with ideas to solve them, or at least make them a little better. Most people experience small frustrations with the objects and world around us and this is your opportunity to channel that frustration into thinking about possible solutions.
By the end of the TMA you will produce a simple prototype of one of your ideas to show how you envisage your design working. You will keep a record of the problem exploration that you do, the ideas you generate and the process of finding a solution as you complete each step, and this will form the basis of the TMA.
Phase1 :What you will do
Identify 8 design problems in your daily life.
Choose a problem to work on.
Look at existing solutions to the problem and think about how they could be improved.
Frame the problem in two alternative problem statements.
Engage in a discussion about your problem and possible problem statements on the tutor group forum.
Write a brief review of your work in this phase.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
Scans or photographs showing 8 problems identified with annotations detailing your thoughts about the underlying problem.
A brief description (25 words) of each problem to accompany the illustration.
A 150-word summary of three existing solutions and how they could be improved supported by illustrations.
Two problem statements of around 25 words each. One starting “How might ….” and the other “Design a …..”
A 100-word account of the tutor group discussion you had about your problem and problem statements
A 100–150-word review of this phase answering:
What module materials helped you in this phase?
Complete the sentence, ‘If I were to do this week’s work again, I would …
Phase2 :What you will do
Hold a creative session to come up with and choose a solution to your problem. You should use both problem statements and see which one generates the best ideas.
Select and develop a design concept.
Upload your chosen design concept to ODS. You can find the slot by following: My Content > My Work > Block 2 > TMA 02 > My Design Concept.
Write a brief review of your work in this phase.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
A 150-word account of your creative session supported by 2 images of the session in progress including how the session was set up and the idea generation techniques used.
Scans or photos of your sketches of your 8 potential ideas that the creative session generated (up to 25 words per idea).
A 100-word evaluation of your ideas using the 5Ws and 1H questions and a comparison table to support your choice of one idea.
One annotated concept sketch showing your chosen design idea.
A 100–150-word review of this phase answering:
What module materials helped you in this phase?
Complete the sentence, ‘If I were to do this week’s work again, I would …’
Phase3 :What you will do
Develop a prototype design based on the chosen idea. Model the relevant features of your idea and consider how these might work.
Evaluate your prototype’s strengths and weaknesses.
Write a brief review of your work in this phase.
Upload the following to ODS: see below
an image of your prototype to My Content > My Work > Block 2 > TMA 02 > My Design Proposal View 1.
an image of your prototype in use to show how it might work to My Content > My Work > Block 2 > TMA 02 > My Design Proposal View 2.
Description: Outline the points you listed when you evaluated your design proposal. Briefly describe what you would like to do next to develop your project.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
A 100-word account of the making process supported by 8 images showing the making process
Two images of a 3D prototype of your design idea made to show its relevant features or test how these might work
A 150-word description of your prototype and its advantages and disadvantages, saying:
how it would work
how well it provides a solution to your problem statement
how it could be improved
why it is a good design solution
A 100–150-word review of this phase answering:
What module materials helped you in this phase?
Complete the sentence, ‘If I were to do this week’s work again, I would …’
Phase4 :What you will do
You will look back at all of the work you have done for this TMA and evaluate the outcome of your work, your design process and your own personal learning.
Structure your evaluation using the headings: Product, Process and Personal learning. You might find the following prompts useful to guide what you might say:
Product
Were you able to be objective and honest when evaluating your prototype?
Are there any aspects of your design idea you would change if you had more time?
Process
How did you find framing a problem statement?
How did you find working with other people?
Which steps of the design process did you find most useful and which other steps could be improved for future projects.
Which of the practical aspects of TMA 02 did you prefer and why? (e.g. design observation, creative thinking, design prototyping, design evaluation)
Personal learning
Are there aspects of designing you would you like to develop further? Give your reasons for this and think about how might you develop them in future work.
Did you change the way you worked on this design project in response to tutor feedback from TMA 01. If so how effective was this change? If you made no changes, explain why not.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
a 400 word evaluation which considers your end product (your design idea), the design process you went through and what you have learnt

“Reimagining Modernity: Challenging Western Narratives in Architecture and Urbanism”

Research Project: Modern Times
The research project “Modern Times” seeks to challenge the prevailing narrative of modern architecture, predominantly centered on Western perspectives promoted by entities such as CIAM, the Ford Foundation, and MOMA, among others. Through the examination of various architectural and urban projects, the research aims to critically reevaluate modern architecture in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia regions, often marginalized or overlooked in mainstream discourse. This project offers an opportunity to explore diverse manifestations of modernity and propose alternative frameworks of architectural knowledge that go beyond the traditional paradigms of the Modern movement’s language and formal structures.
Each student will investigate a case study, addressing several key questions: How does the project align with the country’s modernization efforts? What defines the project as modern? What architectural elements characterize the selected piece, and how do they reflect the local culture? The final presentation will consist of three A2 boards:
Opening Page and Introduction:
This board will serve as the introduction to the case study.
It will feature an opening page with the title of the project (“Modern Times”) and the name of the case study.
The introduction will briefly address some key questions, setting the stage for the in-depth exploration.
Images and Text:
This board will primarily focus on visual representation through images and accompanying text.
It will showcase photographs, renderings, or other visual materials related to the case study.
The text will further delve into the case study, addressing specific questions and providing context or analysis as needed.
Two and Three-Dimensional Analytical Drawings:
This board will present analytical drawings of the case study, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional.
These drawings may include floor plans, elevations, sections, diagrams, or models that provide a deeper understanding of the project’s architectural elements and spatial organization.
The analytical drawings will offer insights into the case study’s design principles, functionality, and cultural significance.

“Recommendation for Wind Turbine Investment in [Selected Country]: A Comprehensive Analysis and Design Plan”

For your final assignment, you will write a recommendation to a collection of investors that are interested in building wind turbines in your selected country. You should structure your recommendation as described below. You should not simply just answer questions. You should investigate, provide background information, describe any design constraints, requirements, etc. You should write in prose and not in bulleted or numbered lists.
Sections:
Introduction (~½ page):
Introduce your audience to the basics of wind turbines so that a non-technical person would be able to understand the fundamentals. Consider the following:
Describe the practical and theoretical basis for the use of wind energy and wind turbines (e.g., what they are, how they are used as an energy source, etc.).
Briefly describe the physical structures of wind turbines, how the work and areas where they have been/can be improved.
Background (~½ – 1 page)
This section should be based on what you submitted for Assignment 3, but should be modified based on faculty feedback.
Discuss, on a global basis, the importance (or lack thereof) of wind energy. Consider:
What percentage of the total energy grid is supplied by wind energy? What about in the U.S., Malawi, or your specific country?
What percentage of the world’s energy comes from wind power?
Describe any local ethical, social, or political aspects impacting the use or need of wind energy for your specific country.
Design Process of a Turbine (~1 page)
Scaling to full-size
Discuss product and project constraints for scaling your design from a tabletop prototype to a full-sized wind turbine.
Project constraints include budget, personnel, and timeline.
Product constraints are requirements that the product must have and are non-negotiable.
Initial Prototype
Describe your CEC 112 prototype and key design features. Explain the design choices you made.
Discuss any changes to the design that would be necessary when scaling your prototype to full-size.
