Discuss your understanding of “community” – what did the Garden replace? Whose self-interest was being served when the Garden was created? Who might have been ignored?
Discuss your understanding of the role of competing self-interests or conflicts of interest, namely, who are the players, what do they want and why? What are the larger socio-economic forces/dynamics that affected the Garden? Be specific – name the forces and include academic literature and course content to support your perspective.
Discuss your understanding of the importance of power – identify the players, the shifting alliances, how did their positions change over time and why? For example, what was the mayor’s position at outset and how/why did it change? Do NOT limit just to the mayor; use this as a guide.
