Guidelines: When you write your essay, be sure the final draft includes the following:
An introduction that introduces the poem and its theme.
A thesis that explains which elements the poem uses and to what goal.
Your essay should be clearly organized and do more than just summarize the poem and/or identify the literary elements in the poem. You need to show how the poem uses the poetic devices you identify to construct its meaning and effects.
Topic sentences and transitions that clearly identify the main point of individual paragraphs.
Support for your points in the form of clear and specific evidence from the poem you are analyzing. This means you will use quotes effectively following MLA conventions.
