Title: “Social Differences and Spatial Patterns in Berlin, London, and Birmingham: A Comparative Analysis” Berlin: In Berlin, social differences were defined by the aftermath of World War II and the division of the city into East and West. This

One of the themes that has run through our work this semester has been the question of difference. How and why has difference been defined and maintained? We have been especially interested in the way that social differences (in wealth, citizenship, race, religion, and gender, among others) are linked to spatial patterns (including debates over who belongs where, neighborhood boundaries, and the forging of alternative spaces to challenge dominant norms).
For your final synthesize and reflect assignment, I picked the three cities- Berlin, London and Birmingham
For each city:
Briefly describe the social differences that mattered to this city. Almost always, these social differences helped to shape uneven access to urban life (including housing, jobs, or the social safety net). In almost all cases, these social differences helped to define two groups (where one group almost always had more power relative to the other).
Explain how these groups used space to maintain, contest, or transform the social norms at work in their cities.
Requirements:
It should include at least two direct quotes from the readings (which I will provide you with the reading in the attached files) as well as this link- https://www.politico.eu/article/how-climate-change-will-widen-european-divide-road-to-cop26/
All citations and references – direct, indirect, etc. – should be cited.
