Your paper should be word-processed (in Microsoft Word or Rich Text format only!), double-spaced, and at least 850 words in length (excluding your name, title, and references). This assignment is worth 100 points and must be submitted in Microsoft Word or Rich Text formats ONLY!
Instructions:
Write a letter to the editor of a local or national newspaper (i.e., ME). Your letter should focus on a social problem or issue that interests you. Of course you are writing a letter not a scientific paper, but you do need sources (at least three scholarly sources, one could be our textbook).
The topic could be related to any social problem or issue (e.g., issues affecting your local community or region of the country); it can also be about a specific local, state or national policy that is being proposed or has already been implemented to address the social problem or issue. It’s your choice.
The idea is for you to select social problem or issue (or policy addressing it) that interests you and in the process of writing a letter to an editor (which is really me), you research and find out more about it.
