“Tracking Section 9 Violations in Volusia County: A Case Study Analysis”

1. Tracking This Case Through Section 9.  What are the listed species at issue in this case?  How have those species been “taken” in violation of Section 9, according to the plaintiffs? How, allegedly, is Volusia County responsible for those takings?  Does this case raise a Section 9
causation issue, as in Strahan v. Coxe?  If so, why?  DOes the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit decide that issue?  Why or Why not?

Title: Bridging the Gap: Analyzing Disparities in Water and Air Quality Policies between the USA and India

-Description of Subject Matter:
The paper will focus on the disparities in water and air quality policies between the USA and India. It will examine specific objectives of environmental policy in both countries, focusing on how each addresses issues such as water scarcity, pollution, management, and contamination. By comparing the policies and practices of these two countries, the paper aims to shed light on the socio-economic and political factors that contribute to environmental disparities between the Global North and the Global South.
-Description of Sources:
The research will draw from a range of academic literature, online sources, and data from relevant agencies. Key sources will include readings from class, reports from organizations such as the World Health Organization and UN Environment Programme, and government publications outlining environmental policies and regulations in both the USA and India.
-Tentative Argument/Hypothesis:
The paper’s main goal is to analyze the disparities in water and air quality policies between the USA and India, highlighting the socio-economic and political factors that shape these differences. By focusing on specific objectives of environmental policy, such as water management and air pollution control, the paper will provide a focused analysis that allows for a deeper understanding of the North-South divide. Additionally, it will explore how international cooperation and the sharing of technological advancements are essential for addressing global environmental challenges effectively.
Four of the sources (from class) I will provide for you, the other eight need to be outside reliable sources:
the full requirements are here: ” 1. You should develop an argument about your topic. This could either be an argument about what
causes what, or an argument about what is to be

2. A good paper should combine full coverage of the relevant specifics of your immediate subject, such
as air pollution in Los Angeles, with attention to some more general issue in the field (e.g. differences between the Global North and the Global South).
3. Your paper must include at least twelve cited sources, at least eight of them from materials beyond the
required readings for this course. All your sources, including internet cites, should be referenced in a list
