Title: “Lights, Camera, Activism: The Role of Movies in Communicating Environmental Issues”

This paper is to discuss how movies portray environmental issues, delving deeper into
the way the issue is communicated and how it influences the public in terms of engagement
alongside their knowledge. You’ll be using the movie “Don’t look up” as a source as well as “An inconvenient truth” to demonstrate
my topic and help support the argument on whether the strategy taken to address certain issues
such as climate change was done in an appropriate manner. If not, what were the flaws in the
strategy? What could have been done to communicate this better? Why is it important to talk
about this issue? Does this encourage engagement to the environmental issue, if so, how? If not,
how can movies better encourage the public to engage? Those are questions you will be answering
in my paper with the help of the attatched sources below in the syllabus. You will also be analysing the narrative and the accuracy of scientific knowledge. The
proposed paper aims to contribute to the current knowledge base by conducting an in-depth study
of the depiction of environmental concerns in films while providing insight into the ability of
cinema as a platform for environmental communication and education.
You MUST cite the movies properly and you MUST only use sources in the syllabus attached below of your choosing to help strengthen your argument. Use as many sources necessary.
