Evaluation of OpChart using HOT-fit Framework: Data Collection and Scope Analysis

Hoot-Sanders2005_Chapter_ImplementationOfOpChartInWestM.pdf
Background
In this module, we are exploring the evaluation of HIT. In this discussion, you will use HOT-fit as the evaluation framework to plan the evaluation of OpChart. We do not have enough data in the case to evaluate OpChart. Instead, you goal is to demonstrate that you understand what information each Hot-fit dimension is and how it is related to expected outcomes and know what data needs to be collected to measure that dimension.
Analysis
In this forum, there are five threads.  Four threads are for the HOT-fit framework – one for the three technology dimensions, one for the human dimensions, one for organization dimensions, and one for the net benefit. One thread is for the scope of the evaluation.
In the model, there are three dimensions in technology, two dimensions in humans, and two dimensions in organization. The level of fit between the attributes in those dimensions produces a benefit for a single user, group of users, and organization. Table 1 gives a long list of examples of different measures for each dimension. Look in the OpChart and identify all the possible types of data for each dimension. As a group, you must fully explore each dimension. Some dimensions may not have much data that you can use. For those dimensions, discuss what data you would like to collect. For all your data, you must explain, from where you will collect the data–user surveys/interviews? system logs? project charters? After you have collected all your data, identify what net benefit you would be able to determine from analyzing the data.
For the scope thread, discuss what scope your evaluation should take and explain why. Are you looking at the individual user, a group of users (which groups), or an organization? How would the data you need change depending on your scope?
Initial post
Post in each of the 5 threads below.
All 5 questions should be answered separately
1. Technology Dimension
There are three organizational dimensions, system quality, information quality, and service quality. What data can you find in the case study about the system quality, information quality, and service quality? As a group, you should try to find all the data for all three dimensions.
What data would you want to collect that the case study does not offer? Where/how would you collect those data?
2. Human Dimensions
There are two human dimensions, System Use and User Satisfaction. What data can you find in the case study about the Use and User Satisfaction? As a group, you should try to find all the data for both dimensions.
What data would you want to collect that the case study does not offer? Where/how would you collect those data?
3. Organizational Dimensions
There are two organizational dimensions, structure and environment. What data can you find in the case study about the structure and environment? As a group, you should try to find all the data for both dimensions.
What data would you want to collect that the case study does not offer? Where/how would you collect those data?
4. Net Benefits
After looking at the data that you collected, what net benefits are you seeing?
5. Scope of Evaluation
Describe who you are evaluating. Individual users? A group of users? An organization? Why are you choosing that level of analysis? Does that change what data you need to collect for HOT-fit?
