Title: “Environmental Issues in Georgia: Stakeholders and Communication Strategies”

Goal: familiarize yourself with environmental issues in GA, analyze the communication, and understand how those issues are being addressed and communicated by different stakeholders
Two Key Components:
1. Overview of local environmental issue; summarize the science (wikipedia style)
2. Analytics of how various stakeholders are addressing the issue through communication (key terms + communication artifacts) *not analyzing science, analyzing the communication about the science

Owner: International Paper
Politicians: Mayor Van R. Johnson, Senator Raphael Warnock, Congressman Earl L. “Buddy” Carter
Businessmen: Paul Stecko- Chairman and CEO of Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), Russ Keeler- Plant Manager of Pratt Industries’ paper mill in Savannah, Mark Sutton- Chairman and CEO of International Paper
NGOs: Greenlaw: A Georgia-based environmental law firm advocating for clean air, water, and land. Clean Water Action: A national organization with a Georgia chapter, Clean Water Action works to protect water resources and public health from pollution sources like industrial facilities
Journalists: Mary Landers- Environmental reporter for the Savannah Morning News, Stanley Dunlap- Reporter for Georgia Recorder, focusing on state government and environmental issues
