Exploring Social Diversity in “To Kill a Mockingbird” “To Kill a Mockingbird” is a classic American film that explores the complex issues of race and social diversity in a small town in the South during the 1930s.

Write and submit a 3 to 4 page essay on one of the selected movies, below. Use terminology from the 1st 4 chapters of the e-textbook. Please review the flashcards in the “Retrospect” section toward the end of the 1st 4 chapters. These are examples of the words that you should use in your essay. You will be applying these vocabulary words that relate to social diversity to a movie that has issues relating to race/ethnic relations. Ideally, you should use about 6 terms, in total. This will demonstrate that you have a mastery of the vocabulary that you will need as we go into the remaining chapters. Please UNDERLINE, BOLD, or HIGHLIGHT your 6 (approximate) terms.
Watch one of the following movies and review it, in essay form. You should be able to stream the movie of your choice from Netflix, Youtube, Pay per View or other streaming channels. Properly use and UNDERLINE, BOLD, or HIGHLIGHT the words (terminology) from the Retrospect sections of the 1st 4 chapters in your essay. Each of the movies deal with the relationship between 2 or more ethnic/racial groups or with the assimilation process.

I suggest watching the movie twice, if possible. Before the 1st watching, review the vocabulary terms from the 1st 4 chapters then sit back and enjoy the show. Review the the terms again, then think about the terms that you can use in your essay. Watch the movie again, taking notes, if necessary. Write a movie summary, using the vocab words that you selected into your essay.
All papers must be written in complete sentences using correct grammar, punctuation, mechanics (e.g., capitalization), and spelling. Assignments require your own words. There shouldn’t be any outside sources. The college uses “Copyleaks” which scans the internet and evaluates papers in terms of AI to avoid plagiarism. The maximum amount of points that you can receive for this essay is 100 points.
