This is about children middle childhood through early adolescence. Consider that there are many challenges for this age group: peer relationships, puberty, sexual identity, multicultural development, media/social media and anxiety to name a few. Reflect on your own experiences growing up when thinking about this assignment.
For this assignment you will choose a movie or tv show that focuses on this age group (see Resources section for suggestions). Choose a character from the movie/tv show that you would counsel and create a dialogue discussing the issue at hand. Utilize your theoretical orientation and techniques in your dialogue. Once you have done this, reflect on your dialogue for Part 4.2.

You can’t change the topic however you can change the topic type, there are 3 you can choose from:
Value = Claim whether something is correct or not, ethically
Factual = Demonstrate whether your topic is right or wrong using facts or figures
Policy = When you’re trying to promote any policies or laws
The Persuasive Speech
Assignment Objectives
Successful completion of this assignment will demonstrate the speaker’s ability to:
Make a persuasive claim that is supported by rigorous research, persuasive strategies, and appropriate organizational patterns
Find, review, choose, and briefly summarize rigorous sources of support
Demonstrate the ability to construct reasoned arguments that account for at least two counter-arguments and extemporaneously answer questions
Use proper oral and written citations for all research
Demonstrate extemporaneous presentational competence
Demonstrate ethos, pathos, and logos
Rationale:
To provide students with an opportunity to communicate as experts on a subject matter.
To introduce students to the speech structure, design, and formal presentation process.
To help build students’ ethos and credibility.
Research
You will use 4-5 quality sources for this assignment. For each of your sources, provide the following information:
Reading notes per source (paraphrasing, quotes, stats, etc.)
Proof that you are citing a quality source.
A proper citation (oral and written)
Evidence supports your argument
One relevant counterargument
Ensure your sources have multiple legitimate, evidence-based perspectives. 
Ensure that each of your main points includes one clear counterargument. You are persuading your audience to agree with your interpretation of the evidence. 
See to it that your speech includes multiple supporting sources (examples, facts, lay or expert testimony, statistics, etc.).
Select a very specific and narrow topic, but present it in thorough detail
Ensure your speech includes a clear, specific purpose, and identify a persuasive goal
Incorporate and demonstrate the use of various persuasive strategies of your choice
Have at least five quality sources of evidence, of which three must be peer-reviewed articles (primary sources).
