Exploring the Elements of Short Fiction: An Analysis of Plot, Characterization, Point of View, Setting, and Style in the Works of a Non-Syllabus Author

HI! “You will write an essay of AT LEAST FIVE PAGES that discusses one or more of the elements of short fiction that we have studied this semester: plot, characterization, point of view, setting, or style. Please note: for this assignment, you will not be writing about themes.
If you wish to write about a story not included in the anthology, ask me.
I add here that you must choose a story by an author that is not on the syllabus. You must develop a thesis and support that thesis with well-researched arguments. Your essay should be focused on your thesis throughout. You should plan on using at least three research sources that are not websites or wikis or encyclopedias: use instead scholarly periodical (journal) articles about your chosen author and story. If you need help with how to research, I can help you, and so can the Gladys Marcus Library, and also the FIT Writing Studio can assist.”
