Unit Plan: “Exploring Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation for 5th Graders”

Lesson Group 7 – Gender identity and Sexual Orientation for 5th graders (Communication)
Please use the template and instructions provided to complete this unit plan.  Instructions are provided via video in this module.  Grading is points based and is both in the instructions and rubric attached to this assignment.
REMEMBER the KEYS to success:
Start with the over arching skills and sub-skills first.  Map them out.
Next, align the functional knowledge.
Then, align your standards.
The rest should then easily align with each day!
You need a minimum of 4 items in Learning Opportunities that represents the 4 sections of the lesson plan.
DON’T forget to title each days lesson (HINT: you can use your essential, diagnostic, guiding, and assessment questions)
FINALLY: Make sure you answer the HBO questions on the last page of the document.
Feedback that needs corrections!
There are several standards.  Are these all assessed and addressed?  Grade 5 is a huge gap for 8th grade standards.  This would be a middle school lesson versus elementary.  You were to do your unit and lessons at the secondary level. All of the NYS standards are intermediate (7-9).
Content only in the goal.  What is the functional knowledge area?
Enduring understandings are made up.
Where did you teach students about role-plays.  Where is planning and goal setting?  SMART Goals?
There are no materials with your lesson. There is nothing here to support this lesson.
