The purpose of this assignment is to understand how the political environment of a foreign country affects decisions of an MNC, such as entry, operations, etc. At some point, almost every MNC will encounter some type of political unrest in a foreign country. It’s important to be proactive as much as possible with decision-making.
Select a foreign country who has experienced recent political unrest (select up to the previous 10 years). Using the readings, lecture, and your own scholarly research, complete a political risk analysis of the country. Address the following in your paper:
What is the current political environment for the country?
How did the political unrest affect business for an MNC? Select an MNC to provide context as an example.
What recommendations do you have for an MNC wanting to enter this country to expand its operations?

Instructions:
Groups of roughly four to six students will be formed by the professor. As a group, you will need to decide on an international business proposal. The scope and nature of this proposal is up to your team. I want you to have as much freedom as possible. Nonetheless, here are a few specific guidelines:
The proposal must be feasible.
The United States and at least one additional nation must be involved.
Your group’s non-U.S. nation may not be a nation in which any group member holds, or has held, citizenship.
You must select a mode of entry (export, licensing, franchise, etc.).
You must do an environmental analysis.
You may base your proposal on an existing firm or you may create a firm.
A foreign (non-U.S.) market must be selected as the target market.
Presentation:
The goal of the presentation is to sell your idea, thus, creativity will be rewarded. All members must participate in the presentation (10-20 slides).
Final Paper:
A written analysis of your proposal (8-12 double-spaced page maximum/minimum 8), excluding exhibits and PowerPoint slides).

Introduction – A brief profile of the firm and product or service. Further, a justification for the choice of country and mode of entry should be discussed.
Macroenvironment – An analysis of the macroenvironment of the selected country with an emphasis on the factors that are relevant to the firm—the analysis of social, technological, eEconomic, and political/lLegal forces.
Competitive Analysis – Assess the market conditions (such as size of market, market growth rate, consumers, sales analysis). Also, address how your firm will attain a competitive advantage.
Financial Analysis – Projections of future earnings via pro-forma financial statements or other financial analyses adds depth and credibility to your proposal.
Mode of Entry – A mode of entry into the foreign market must be selected. Pertinent factors surrounding this mode (for example import regulations, customs, payment methods, etc. for exporting as a mode) should then be covered.
Cultural Tips – Discuss any customs and cultural differences specific to the selected country that impact business operations.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability
Address any issues around ethical or unethical business practices (for example, product safety, labor relations, corruption, community relations, etc.) Also, consider the environmental/ecological practices and impacts of your company and the product you have selected.
