Assessment Ethics and Confidentiality: Protecting the Rights of Clients and Maintaining Professional Boundaries

In a 750-1,000 word paper, APA style, create a case in which you are the professional being asked to conduct assessments on a client. You get several calls asking for the results. Those callers are: the client’s attorney, an opposing attorney, the client him/herself, the client’s parents, the client’s employer, and a judge trying a case in which the client is a defendant. Ethics are important in the use of assessment tools. With whom can the therapist discuss the assessment results and how much information do we give the client about the assessment tool, and what it is supposed to measure? What restrictions are there when using assessment tools with minors or court ordered clients? To summarize, how is protecting the rights of the client’s assessment results similar to maintaining confidentiality?
