Title: The Interplay of Leadership and Management in Achieving Organisational Success: A Critical Analysis and Rationale for Continuing Development

Part 1:
Through your understanding of academic literature, critically analyse the roles and responsibilities between management and leadership on the operations and success of a modern business using several practical examples. (Circa 2100 words)
Part 2:
Provide a rationale as to why the continuing development of leaders and managers is essential to working practices and organisational success-using classical and contemporary theories. Establish how these development activities facilitate that success in the future. (Circa 1000 words)
• In Part 1, critically determine, through your appreciation and understanding of the models, theories and principles of leadership and management roles and responsibilities, as to how they facilitate day to day operational activities to achieve business success for an organisation.
• Evaluate the purpose and value of leadership and management in a business context to help determine your answer.
• Avoid seeing or discussing leadership and management as separate issues, you must discuss them relative to each other in terms of the purpose and value (as you see it). Please use some practical examples.
• Do not:
➢ simply construct a series of advantages or disadvantages in addressing this question.
➢ simply provide a list of what a leader does and what a manager does (that is not the purpose of the question).
• In Part 2, provide a robust academic rationale as to why the development of leaders and managers is an essential activity for organisations to undertake and critically explain how it can add value.
• It is essential you articulate where the value-added aspect of this development occurs, not simply in terms of skill development, but also in terms of how it might enable employees to engage and undertake their roles more effectively.
