Title: Advocating for Change in SNAP: Understanding the Policy and Exploring Methods of Advocacy

Topic is SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)
Description of Assignment- The presentation will be a 20-25 slide PowerPoint presentation with additional slides being used for the list of references utilized.  The presentation must reflect critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate effectively.  Slides must conform to the 6X6 rule.  They can have no more than 6 lines each and each line must be no longer than 6 words.  In the notes section you can have more information if it is needed to get your ideas across.  You probably will need to use this to flesh out your ideas if you are not planning to do a vocal or video track.  The notes section is likely what you would say in a presentation.  I am sure you have attended lectures where there was way too much information on a slide than you could ever write down.  That is not a good slide.  All slides that are using information that you gathered in your research need to have some sort of parenthetical citation on the slide itself or in the corresponding notes so that I know where that information came from.  While presenting your work and recording that is not absolutely required it will be rewarded and it would be almost impossible to get an A on the presentation without doing this.
Content-
Analyze the current policy you would like to see changed (or stay the same).
Formulate the change you would like to see implemented (or explain why you want the policy to stay the same.)
Explain all the ways you go about advocating for the change (or for the policy to stay the same). Choose from all the methods of advocacy we have learned in the course.  Think about Macro and Micro advocating.
References-
Identify resources that are available on your selected topic. Specifically:
Identify at least two government documents that are related to your topic.
Identify at least two websites that are related to your topic.
Identify at least six current journal articles that reference your topic within the research of the article. You may utilize available databases on the library web page. Remember that these sources will be the foundation of your presentation, so make sure you have access to the full text of the article.  (You certainly don’t need to put the full text of the article in the presentation but it does need to be available if others want to research it.)
Refer to the latest APA manual for citing sources. The manual is available at the Reference Desk of the library, may be purchased at the Bookstore, or online at http://www.apastyle.org, The APA format for citations can be found at the Purdue University OWL online.
