Students are asked to research and explore an application of remote sensing to a field of
their interest. This should be an in-depth dive into the particular niche you examine. Note
that you will summarize the technique and give examples from the work of others
(perform a literature review). I am not asking you to execute a project, but rather to
explain how the process is executed and propose how you might apply the same process
to an area of your choice.
Your work should include six pages of text (8 grad), double-spaced. You are welcome to
include graphics, images, and title pages but these do not count toward the text of your
report. You should try to use diverse sources, seeking out at least 6 book citations or
peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals (8 sources for grads).
The style of formatting (APA, Chicago Manual, etc.) is entirely up to you, but should be
consistent. I do, however, insist you use inline citation methods for both direct quotes
and paraphrasing (in other words, anything that doesn’t come directly out of your head).
For any quote or paraphrased material, you should list its source within the sentence.
Failing to do this amounts to plagiarism.
