For the Final you will design, research and write a paper that uses the theories from your presentation.
Rationale: While it is valuable to read and learn theories, I want to see you can apply theories to ascertain new insights into the world in which you live. Therefore, you will use the theories from your presentation (1 from class and 2 from outside of class) to analyze a piece of the world in which you live. Your primary source (item you analyze) can be a television show, a song, a character in a series, a book, etc. The purpose of this paper is to show mastery of a theory and teach your audience a new perspective on the primary source you use.
Understanding the Challenges Faced by Transgender Individuals in Incarceration using Laverne Cox who plays the character Sophia Burset in the TV series “Orange Is the New Black.” I would mainly focus on one particularly episode that delves into her experiences is in Season 1, Episode 3, titled “Lesbian Request Denied.” as one source and “The Five Sexes: Why Male and Female are not Enough” by Fausto-Sterling as my second source and The transgender pains of imprisonment by Matthew Maycock as my third source and give me another outside source.
