Researching information about people, places, things, concepts, and ideas is a strategy that provides knowledge relative to topics of interest. The research hinges on the asking of a question or questions in which the individual considers exploring details that will be used as evidence to support their thesis. The interview is the primary source for your research. Whereas, historical information that can be retrieved from journals, books, magazines or the internet are great sources and are considered the secondary source. An expert’s knowledge provide adequate kinds of sources that can be found via the library and its databases. Along with determining if the sources are adequate, one must evaluate and examine the sources before utilizing them within an essay.
The purpose of this assignment is to have students delve into researching their own heritage as it relates to finding answers to their roots and their ancestors’ experience based upon their health, education, community, religious, and sacrifices they made to leave a successful legacy for the family’s future. The research should appeal to purpose, audience, and the overall elements used in research.
After collecting your information about your family’s culture and heritage, please compose a 3-5 page essay noting the following: MLA procedures for citing an interview in-text citations and the Works Cited page. Please see your textbook or Purdue Owl. The inclusion of historical information when your ancestors were born. For example, an event such as WWII or any other historical event.
Additionally, a well-established thesis statement that is the last sentence in the introduction paragraph.
The effective use and organization of sentences while providing the evidence of supporting details to defend the thesis statement is needed.
Write clear, correct, and appropriate paragraphs that are coherent, unified, and well-developed.
