“Ensuring Ethical Conduct in Applied Research: The Role of Institutional Review Boards and the SLU IRB Application Process”

Written Exercise 8 Directions:
The author of the textbook discussed that Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) have the primary responsibility of protecting the rights of human research participants and were created as the result of federal regulations.
An Institutional Review Board (IRB) is found at universities, hospitals, and research organizations where faculty, staff, or students conduct research on human subjects. Comprised of a committee of professionals and subject matter experts in the field, the committee must approve a research plan before any research is started. This process can take weeks to months to complete, and each institution has policies about how to apply to the IRB.
SLU has an IRB and, to that end, has an application process that is required for those conducting research as part of the University.
1. Describe the role and responsibilities of IRBs and discuss how an IRB, as well as researchers, can eliminate or mitigate potential ethical pitfalls in applied research. 2. Complete the SLU IRB Application and consider the reasons for the questions asked in the application.
3. Note that you will not actually submit the application to the IRB, and you will not add any attachments or other requested documents to the application. Simply check the appropriate boxes for your Research Proposal Project, answer the questions, and submit the application along with your paper on IRBs. Include your name on the saved file submitted and in the IRB application, but you may omit your email address and phone number.

“Integrating Quantitative and Qualitative Methodologies: Exploring the Mixed Methods Approach” The mixed methods approach, which combines both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, has become increasingly popular in research studies. This approach allows researchers to gather a more comprehensive understanding

Directions for Initial Discussion:  NO AIE OR PLAGERISING ALL ORGINAL WORK
Search resources in the library to determine how the mixed methods approach of applying both quantitative and qualitative methodologies can be integrated into one study.
Summarize your findings on how the mixed methods approach of applying both quantitative and qualitative methodologies can be integrated into one study and include at least one peer-reviewed article to support your response.
Cite at least one source other than your textbook or articles from required reading.

Title: Analysis of Population, Sample Size, and Survey Questions in Chemical and All Hazards Event Research

Must have abstract page and conclusion page no AI or plagiarism must be all original work. The Written Exercise consists of an analysis essay. These essays must be a minimum of 1,200 words in length, must pertain to the topic for the particular module, and written to  APA standards that include a cover page, an abstract, discussion with level headings, a conclusion, and references.
Read the article What to Do in a Chemical or All Hazards Event?
Identify the population using the research in the article.
Use the sample size calculator and discuss if the sample size in the article was appropriate for the research question. Justify your response.
Analyze the survey (questionnaire) questions found in the article and explain if they were appropriate to answer the research question. Justify your response.
Written Exercise 6 is due no later than Saturday 11:59 PM EST/EDT  and is to be submitted in two ways: via the Assignment box and posted in the Written Exercise 6 Discussion. The Assignment box is linked to Turnitin.
