1080 MINIMUM word count – does not include references
The essay’s structure should consist of:
• Title

here is my essay plan: (please use this when writing the essay)
Essay Title:
The Impact of Neuropharmacology on Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Exploring Therapeutic Strategies and Mechanistic Insights
Introduction:
Hook: Start with a compelling fact or statistic about the prevalence of neurodevelopmental disorders.
Background: Briefly introduce what neurodevelopmental disorders are, including examples such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Thesis Statement: State your thesis, e.g., “This essay will explore how neuropharmacology affects neurodevelopmental disorders, focusing on the mechanisms of neurotransmitter regulation and the therapeutic potentials of pharmacological interventions.”
Body:
Overview of Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Define and describe common neurodevelopmental disorders.
Discuss the general neuroanatomical and neurophysiological characteristics of these disorders.
Importance of early diagnosis and intervention.
Basic Concepts in Neuropharmacology Relevant to Neurodevelopment
Introduction to neuropharmacology: Definition and goals.
Explanation of key terms: neurotransmitters, receptors, synaptic transmission.
How drugs can alter neurotransmitter levels and receptor functions.
Impact of Neuropharmacology on Neurodevelopment
Specific drugs used in the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders.
Mechanisms by which these drugs influence neurodevelopmental pathways.
Case studies or examples of successful pharmacological interventions.
Neurotransmitter Systems and Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Detailed look at specific neurotransmitter systems (e.g., dopaminergic, serotonergic systems).
How abnormalities in these systems correlate with symptoms of neurodevelopmental disorders.
How targeting these systems pharmacologically can alter disease outcomes.
Challenges and Ethical Considerations
Discuss the challenges of treating neurodevelopmental disorders with pharmacological agents (e.g., side effects, long-term impacts).
Ethical considerations in administering neuroactive drugs to children and adolescents.
Conclusion:
Summary of Key Points: Recap the main insights from the body paragraphs, reinforcing how neuropharmacology plays a crucial role in managing neurodevelopmental disorders.
Future Directions: Highlight the need for ongoing research into more targeted, effective, and safe pharmacological treatments.
Closing Thought: End with a reflective thought or question that emphasizes the importance of improving pharmacological interventions to enhance the quality of life for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.
Please use these textbooks when writing the essay and reference them at the end of the document
Textbooks:
“Principles of Neural Science” by Eric R. Kandel, James H. Schwartz, Thomas M. Jessell, Steven A. Siegelbaum, A.J. Hudspeth
This comprehensive textbook is a staple in neuroscience education, providing in-depth discussions on neural science, including neurodevelopment and pharmacology.
“Stahl’s Essential Psychopharmacology: Neuroscientific Basis and Practical Applications” by Stephen M. Stahl
This book offers detailed insights into the mechanisms of drug action for mental health conditions, with a focus on pharmacological principles relevant to neurodevelopmental disorders.
“Neuropharmacology and Behavior” by Bernard E. Rollin and M. Carolyn Janus
This text explores behavioral aspects of neuropharmacology, which can be particularly useful when discussing the impacts of medications on neurodevelopmental conditions.
“Developmental Neuroscience: A Concise Introduction” by Susan E. Fahrbach
This book provides a focused overview of neurodevelopment, which could be crucial for understanding the developmental aspects in your essay.
please also only use references from PubMed or NIH websites
please have atleast 12-15 references

“Understanding the Brain at the Cellular/Molecular Level: A Concept Map”

The goal of this assignment is to have you review all materials covered about cellular/molecular neuroscience in this course and connect concepts into your working hypothesis of how the brain works at the cellular/molecular level.
Content Instructions:
Create a CONCEPT MAP (containing e.g., flow-chart boxes, arrows, drawings, thought bubbles) that illustrates the relationships between bits of information you learned about brain cells and their physiology and function. Tip: Google “concept map science.”
Formatting Instructions:
Draw on a poster size paper or create a PowerPoint slide (the latter is easier since you will be able to rearrange things as needed). Note, the grading rubric below does not include aesthetics, so do not spend inordinate amounts of time prettifying your concept map. However, it has to be readable. Please take a photo of the former (if a drawing) and convert into a PDF file. Please submit on Canvas via the assignment link. Your file name needs to end with the file extension:  .pdf
Grading Rubric  (maximum 5 % points toward your course grade):
Completeness to showcase everything you learned and appropriately capture the complexity of the topic.  2 pts
Accuracy in the depiction of the relationships between concepts (appropriate terminology, factual accuracy, hierarchy, directional connections depicted using arrows). 2 pts
Clear organization (no word clouds, please; legibility). 1 pt

The goal of this assignment is to have you review all materials covered about cellular/molecular neuroscience in this course and connect concepts into your working hypothesis of how the brain works at the cellular/molecular level. “Exploring the Role of Genetic Variants in Circadian Clock Genes and Circadian Dysregulation in Children and Adolescents with ADHD in India: A Novel Approach with Neuroscientific Manipulation”

It is a research paper, where we do a topic of our choice and make it novel. The topic I have chosen is : “Genetic variants in circadian clock genes and circadian dysregulation in children and adolescents with ADHD in India” and I am supposed to state why I have chosen India apposed to other countries and would have to hypothesize why.  I am not sure where to go from here, I need to defend why I believe that this study should be repeated in India in adolecenets and children and would need research backing it up. I have somewhat of a foundation, but the three main things that I am missing are 1. I am no clear what thing is established in the white asian population and the test in the indian population. 2.  I need an underlying reason why I should be doing this for india. 3. And I need a manipulation in the assignment, a neurocomponent. I was thinking looking into the super chiasmatic nucleus and do something from there since its related to sleep regulation. I am not to sure about it either.  But the guidlines, my presentation and my outline are below for help. I have some previous articles in the last slide of my presentation for this paper to use. I’d still need more in terms of why I have chosen the indian population and the neurocomponent. I am looking closely to the study where it was done in Brazil. “Carpena”

“The Inevitability of Cognitive Decline in Parkinson’s Disease: Examining the Role of Genotypes and Cognitive Function Performance in the Progression to Parkinson’s Disease Dementia”

The focus should majorly center on the inevitability of cognitive decline from PD before/during Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) to Parkinson’s Disease Dementia (PDD), and whether that is dependent on genotypes COMPT/MAPT , cognitive function performance on certain domains over others (Attention/Working memory, Executive Function, Language, Memory, Visuospatial function) during earlier stages of disease (PD or PD with MCI). A handy knowledge in cognitive neuroscience, notably in Parkinson’s Disease and dementia, will be an ideal. Deep understanding and exploration of related scholarly articles, journals, and scientific research will be requited, everything should be sited in APA format.
