Submission Content
The Film Review that I am interested is option one Brazil- Crime and insecurity and also Option four: Colombia- the drug war. Understanding the evolution of the drug war, the involvement of various actors including government forces, paramilitary groups, and drug cartels, as well as efforts towards peace and reconciliation, would provide a comprehensive understanding of this complex issue.
Option 4: Colombia – The Drug War
The central idea when viewing these films and series is to identify scenes that highlight the primary tension of the theme. Ask yourself – why is this media representative of what is going on in this context – how do each film or series try to show you the challenges that every day people are dealing with? What ideas from class can we use to break this down?
Option 4: Colombia – The Drug War
Series: Narcos (Netflix, Season 1) OR Griselda (Netflix)
Questions: How did the drug war emerge? How did the United States shape the Drug War? What sorts of inequalities perpetuate the conflict?
