Here’s the case and the questions are at the end:
You have been working with Gerry, a 26-year-old in Moss Park Residence. He has Trisomy 21 and Type 2 diabetes. Gerry works at a button factory where he and others from Moss Park Residence package buttons. He completed grade 7 last year and refused to go back to school.
Last week, some of the staff had asked for a consultation with the psychiatrist because they felt that he was depressed. His appointment is in two weeks. You will be accompanying Gerry
The team has convened a conference to discuss Gerry’s case, as the existing documentation is insufficient. Your team leader has requested everyone share their observations to enhance their understanding of Gerry’s situation.
The psychiatrist has written the diagnosis as Dual Diagnosis (Trisomy 21, Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder)
