Define the role of an incident safety officer at emergency scenes, and then recall an incident you have responded to where an incident safety officer was not assigned. Describe the incident, the command structure that was present, the details that were relevant to personnel safety, and the safety concepts that were or were not in place during the incident.
Were measures taken proactively to prevent injuries from occurring, or were the measures reactive?
Explain Why is it important to have another set of eyes looking at overall safety on the scene? Did the personnel present have adequate knowledge of the incident? Please explain. If the personnel present did not have adequate knowledge,
what did they need to know?
Was a lack of chief officers or line officers with incident safety officers training the issue? What policies and procedures were implemented following this incident to correct deficiencies?
