Students will write a critical book review of Lyle Dorsett’s A Passion for Souls, a
biography of the life of Dwight Moody. The review must include a title page (a sample is
in Course Resources on Blackboard). Begin the paper with a bibliographical reference that
conforms to the Style Guide 3.0 for the College of Christian Studies at North Greenville
University (found in Class Resources). The first paragraph of the introduction should be a
brief biography of the author. The rest of the body of the paper contains the book summary
(approximately 2 pages in length), the critical review must be 2 pages in length (strengths,
weaknesses, did the author achieve his purpose—how, would you recommend the book—
to what audience, changes you would recommend, etc.), and a conclusion. Use subheadings
conforming to the Style Guide 3.0. The grading rubric may be found in Class Resources.
This review must conform to the Style Guide 3.0 (see page 32f). The title page (see course
resources) is neither numbered, nor counted. The paper should be double-spaced using 12-
point Times New Roman font. Margins must be one inch (top, bottom, and both sides).
Include page numbers according to the style guide.
