“Cross-Cultural Training for Working Effectively with France and the USA: Understanding and Resolving Intercultural Conflicts”

10-15-minute recorded cultural training presentation wherein you deliver your cultural training session
(i.e., talk us through your PowerPoint slides on video or just voiceover – either is fine!). Crucially, the
video or voiceover should be submitted with, and time-aligned, to the slides (i.e., do not submit a video
or voiceover that is separate from your slides).
Your presentation must include the following:
• A welcome slide introducing yourself and the session topic and purpose. Be sure to mention the
Session # (1-4) and the expected participants (e.g., team members from France & the USA).
• A slide (or slides) featuring the placement of the US and your chosen country on each of Meyer’s
eight scales on the culture map. Remember that cultural relativity is very important in determining
where to place each country on each scale.
• Four potential intercultural conflicts that your trainees (from both countries) may encounter while
working collaboratively. Remember that conflicts are not inherently bad. Present each conflict on
a separate slide which includes the following:
o Description: A description of the potential conflict
o Reason: The reason for the conflict (i.e., what is it about workplace culture in these
countries that would lead to this conflict?)
o Collaborative solutions: a set of theoretically and practically sound suggestions for each
potential conflict.
• A slide featuring description of one area (i.e., scale) on which the two countries (most closely)
align.
• A summary slide with key takeaways for the group
• A thank-you slide
• A reference slide at the end of the presentation listing your source(s). At minimum, our textbook
should be listed on this slide. Use APA or MLA formatting
