Exploring Cultural Diversity: A Journey Through the Chinese New Year Celebration

Attend an event that is not a part of your usual cultural practice(s). This event must be engaging and educational. The challenging part about this option is that this event must happen within the duration of this course with time for you to start and finalize this semester project. You will present evidence of having attended this the event by providing a ticket stub with date, time and location; a brochure detailing the time and place; etc. You are required to take notes as you experience this event. Engage with others who are attending the event. Take notes on how people communicate about this event. This will be presented in the form of a paper. The paper itself will make a descriptive move and an interpretive move.
Use the S.P.E.A.K.I.N.G. framework discussed in chapter 3 of your text to organize the description of the event. Focus on the S thought I portions of the framework to provide a richness to your description.
For the interpretation, you can use the N (Norms of interaction and interpretation) as well as using some other analytic tool such as the concepts of ritual, narrative, worldviews, values, norms, etc
